Terms of Service
Last updated: 25 July 2026
These terms govern your use of ScanTraceQR (the “Service”), operated at scantraceqr.com. By creating an account or using the Service you agree to them. If you don't agree, don't use the Service.
1. The Service
ScanTraceQR lets you generate QR codes and short tracking links, records analytics about visits to those links (approximate IP-based location, device, browser, referrer and time), and redirects visitors to a destination URL you choose. The Service is provided free of charge and is supported by advertising.
2. Your account
- You must be at least 16 years old, or the age of digital consent in your country if higher.
- You are responsible for keeping your password secure and for everything done under your account.
- One person or organisation per account. Don't create accounts to evade a suspension.
- You may close your account at any time from the account page.
3. Acceptable use
The Service is intended for analytics on links you own and share. You may not use ScanTraceQR to:
- Harass, stalk, dox or intimidate anyone, or locate a person against their wishes.
- Deceive people about where a link leads — phishing, fake login pages, impersonating a person, brand or institution, or disguising a destination to trick someone into visiting it.
- Distribute malware, exploits, or links to them.
- Link to child sexual abuse material, non-consensual intimate imagery, content that incites violence or hatred, or anything illegal where you or your audience are.
- Circumvent the consent prompt for precise location, or misrepresent to visitors what a prompt is for.
- Send tracking links as unsolicited bulk messages (spam) by any channel.
- Sell, rent or publish the visit data you collect, or use it to build profiles of identified individuals.
- Scrape, overload, reverse-engineer or automate abuse of the Service, or generate artificial traffic against links or advertisements.
This list is illustrative, not exhaustive. We may suspend or terminate any account we reasonably believe is breaching it, without notice, and disable the links it created. Anyone — account holder or not — can report a link through our abuse report form, anonymously if they prefer.
4. Your responsibilities for visitor data
This is the important part. When you create a tracking link, you decide who receives it and why, which under laws such as the GDPR and UK GDPR generally makes you the data controller for the visit data collected through it. ScanTraceQR acts as your processor: we store that data and show it to you.
Accordingly, you warrant that:
- You have a lawful basis for collecting visit data from the people you send links to.
- You will comply with the privacy, marketing and electronic-communications laws that apply to you and to your audience — including any notice or consent obligations they impose on you.
- You will not use the Service in a way that puts us in breach of those laws.
- You will handle any request from a visitor about their data, and will cooperate with us if such a request comes to us instead.
You agree to indemnify us against claims arising from your breach of this section.
5. Content and destinations
We don't host your destination pages and we don't review them in advance. You are responsible for the content you link to. We may block a destination URL that breaches section 3 or that is flagged as unsafe by a reputable security service.
6. Advertising
The Service displays advertisements, including through Google AdSense. Cookies and consent for advertising are described in our Privacy & Cookie Policy. You must not click your own ads, encourage others to click ads, or otherwise generate invalid ad traffic on the Service.
7. Availability, changes and termination
The Service is provided free and “as is”. We may change, suspend or discontinue any part of it, and we do not guarantee uptime, data durability, or that links will remain active indefinitely. Export anything you need to keep — CSV export is available from every link's analytics page.
We may terminate or suspend your access for breach of these terms, for legal reasons, or if we stop operating the Service. You may stop using it at any time.
8. Disclaimer and liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, the Service is provided without warranties of any kind, express or implied. IP-based location is an estimate and may be wrong; you must not rely on it for any decision with legal, financial or safety consequences.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages, or for lost profits, data or goodwill. Nothing here excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded.
9. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms; the “last updated” date above reflects the current version. Material changes will be signposted on the site. Continuing to use the Service after a change means you accept it.
10. Contact
